| THE AREA |
Andalucia offers an incredible diversity of landscapes and monuments. The Moors regarded their kingdom of Al-Andalus as paradise on earth and in the great cities of Seville, Granada and Cordoba, it's not hard to see why.At the end of a winding road that gently ascends into the hills, lies the spectacularly pretty white village of Frigiliana. Spread over two hills, with wonderful views over Nerja and the coast below. Frigiliana is an enchanting spot with narrow, steep streets bordered by whitewashed homes abound with flowers. Gaucin is one of the many pretty white mountain villages that exist throughout Andalucia. Midway between Gibraltar and Ronda, the village nestles against the hillside, with spectacular views down to the coast and across to Africa. Gaucin is situated only 40 minutes drive from the coast and boasts a number of shops and bars plus fine restaurants. Ronda has long been one of Andalucia's most famous towns with its spectacular setting, its deep gorge and its historic centre. The magnificent 18th century bridge, old Moorish quarter with its ancient alleyways, houses and mansions, and the lovely clifftop pathways with superb views, all help to make Ronda a popular destination. Casares is one of the most stunningly pretty and most photographed villages in Spain. With its castle and monastery perched precariously upon a towering rock and the white houses of the village spread out below, it is a panoramic sight and offers lovely views. |
| ACTIVITIES |
| Andalucia is Spain at its most exuberant, and it has literally hundreds of fiestas every year. The week long 'Feria de Abril' which takes place in Seville after Easter, is the largest fair in Spain. 'Semana Santa' (Holy week) during Easter is a dramatic and memorable affair in Seville, Malaga and Granada, while for horse lovers there is the prestigious Horse Fair at Jerez in the 1st and 2nd week of May. At the end of June, popular groups and orchestras perform in Granada's Alhambra Palace for the International Festival of Music. |
