Chateau, Pouillon with 10 bedrooms On approaching the chateau it is necessary to cross a gate to discover it at the bottom of what remains of a very beautiful park drawn and created by M. Buller. The rocky outcrop on which the building was built is mentioned for the first time in the 8th and 9th century. The still visible foundations between the castle and the orangery, testify to the building from the 10th and 11th century which was significant and difficult to build at that time. It was rebuilt in the 12th and 13th century after being destroyed. It has stayed the same except that at one stage the western wing consisted of a square tower. The principal building is separated from the park by a stone wall of one metre high. The large room on the first floor opens on to a large terrace supported by four columns. The park was created in 1852 by a landscape gardener M. Buller. It includes magnolia and pomegranate trees and the paths are bordered by low boxwood. The tower which measures 1.30m at the base was designed to withstand attack. The ground floor was used as a grain reserve. The first floor was reached by external stairs and the two other floors by interior stairs. On three sides there are stables and buildings which were connected underground to the tower. There are superb views of the mountains. Some work is needed on this property, however it has enormous potential. OUR RELATED SERVICES
