Financing an Overseas Property - Overseas Mortgages

Currency Exchange

Why use Baydonhill?
We will provide you with a personal dealer who will be able to monitor the market on your behalf to ensure that you achieve the best possible exchange rate available to you in your purchase time. We offer a range of contracts to suit your needs and offer an “after sales” service that includes providing written proof of payment for each of our transfers on your behalf.

We answer all telephone calls personally – you will not have to spend valuable time listening to recorded messages and nor will you be transferred to a call centre that is unaware of either your business or your current situation and requirements.

Is my money safe?
Yes. Upon settlement of your contract, your funds will be held on a secure client account at The Bank of Ireland. This account is specifically used to lodge funds until we receive written confirmation from you regarding where your funds need to be transferred. We do not speculate on the market with clients funds, meaning that you are not in danger of the company losing your money due to unexpected market movement.

How can Baydonhill save me money?
We offer commercial rates of exchange that are based on the live “Interbank” prices (the level that banks trade funds at between themselves.) These exchange rates are superior to those of the High Street banks and are negotiable depending upon the size of each trade.

What is the minimum amount?
We will be able to offer a competitive rate of exchange on any amount upwards of £5,000.00

How much does it cost?
Once your funds have cleared, we will send your foreign currency either by Foreign Currency draft or CHAPS payment to the bank account specified on your contract note. The charges for these services are £15.00 and £10.00 respectively per transfer payable prior to transmission of the funds. Please note that we advise our clients to settle by cheque, and to send the balance of their forward contracts 5 days before the contract due date.

Overseas buildings and contents insurance

English worded insurance policies anywhere in the world with the exception of Northern Cyprus. Baydonhill provides comprehensive insurance cover for your overseas domestic property and its contents. You can choose to have a combined buildings and contents policy or separate cover - just like at home. Our policies are underwritten by Hiscox and specially designed for UK nationals and expats who own an overseas home. Our service takes the "hassle" and uncertainty out of making sure your overseas property is properly covered. While there may be suitable cover available locally, our clients prefer dealing with a UK company and taking out cover which is similar to what they are familiar with at home.

Regular Overseas Payments
As the owner of an overseas property, you will need to make regular payments abroad to maintain your home. We can help you to make hassle-free, cost-effective payments to foreign accounts by fixing the exchange rate for twelve monthly payments in advance. This allows you to know exactly how much is coming out of your Sterling account via Direct Debit and how much will be credited to your overseas account on which day every month for one year at a time.

We are unable to guarantee the exact rate of exchange in advance for each individual Overseas Monthly Payment Plan (OMPP).
