Magnificent 19th Century Neoclassical style palace with a excellent vineyard, and which in 1910 was classified as a National Monument.
With a modern winery, which in 1977 was successfully launched as a brand of wine and in 2010 the palace was opened to the public with guided tours.
With an "L" shape, it has stunning rococo style decorations and 4 facades which are bordered by 3 turrets that add a distinctive presence and recall the Ajuda National Palace in Lisbon. The central body is almost totally granite coated and has a large raised portal to the centre of the lateral bodies, this central body is still crowned by the family coat of arms between 2 balustrades. In the body perpendicular to the noble facade the decoration becomes more severe, not breaking, however, the harmony of the whole building.
Internally there are some interesting rooms where the decoration is Neoclassical, highlighting the magnificent halls with valuable paintings (among them a portrait of D.
Joao VI sheltered by a canopy with drapes and side curtains), as well as fresh and distinctive decorations throughout.
At the entrance there is a large noble staircase leading from a spacious atrium and walls with tiled panels by Jorge Pinto. There is also a chapel and a theatre, the latter has a strong classicist influence, marked by the use of corrugated columns. The scenic background presents a perspective of the facade of this Palace in the North of Portugal. There is a greenhouse and iron half-cylinder which is accessible through a porch off of the noble staircase. The property is surrounded by a lush forest and lovely gardens with magnolias and japonicas.
The Palace is sold with all furniture and fixtures and fittings in the winery which are all worth around 500,000 Euros and the company's turnover is around 900,000 euros.
Set within around 30 hectares of totally fenced land, which includes:
- 18 hectares of vineyard
- 8 hectares of forest
- 4 hectares of buildings and gardens
