Stunning and authentic French Chateau with its origins dating from the 16th Century, with further modifications over time, to what is now see today, an imposing character building which is sitting proudly on a hill overlooking the Loire river valley.
The changes throughout the ages have been based upon family size, design of the times or purely the whim of the owner. The recent additions of the sizeable outbuildings added in the 1950s and used as a "holiday de Vacances" establishment - these would make ideal event rooms (marriages, birthdays, seminars, workshops, etc. etc. ) with plenty of extra space and accommodation.
The chateau itself is well proportioned over 4 floors with a formal staircase and 2 smaller ones.
Ground floor: grand entrance hall which is centrally placed with access to the stairs and reception rooms. These are true to the period with marble fireplaces, wood panelling, high ceilings, parquet floors and large south facing windows. The kitchen has been sympathetically modernized and leads directly to the dining hall, dining room and corner living room. Along with the large receptions rooms various studies and libraries provide quiet working space on this floor and there is access to the "garden level" below.
1st floor: master suite, 2nd suite and 3 further guest bedrooms also with en-suite facilities and 3 salons.
Top floor: rather than the typical small corridors and staff quarters, this floor has been opened up to provide large "loft" style bedrooms and living rooms.
Garden level: numerous rooms including laundry, games room, wine cellar, boiler room, etc. etc.
Land: 27 hectare plot with approximately 19 hectares of woodland and 8 hectares of parkland and meadows.
The former chateau's pavilions are still standing and offer today at least 2 individual guest lodges (some updating required).
The "refectory" offers around 350m2 in 1 single open-plan room with superb south facing windows creating an excellent setting for weddings, events, seminars, etc. etc. and within the same building space that once was a professional kitchen and WC facilities - recreating an activity here is more than feasible.
The other outbuildings were used more recently (1970s) as accommodation for children during the holidays and the structure and infrastructure are ripe for a new project.
The chateau is located on a hill overlooking the river valley of Le Loir. Around 20 minutes from the Angers/Marce airport, 30 or so minutes from Angers and Autoroute access (Le Mans, Paris, Angers, Tours, Nantes) close by.
The local villages have a selection of amenities with larger supermarkets 20 minutes away.
This Chateau is very nicely presented with plenty of space for family and friends with great scope for an onsite activity if required.
