Savines le Lac is the central village of the whole of Lac du Serre Poncon. It has several bars and restaurants as well as a small harbour where boat trips take clients on a tour of the lake. There are private moorings available for sailboats.
The lake is at 750 m altitude and covers an area of 29 square kilometres making it the largest artificial lake in Europe. It is 20 kms long and holds 1.2 billion litres of water. The area is hugely popular in spring and summer as it has camp sites all around the lake and water sports centres up and down its length.
Embrun is the main town beside the lake and it has all the amenities found in any normal sized town - shops, supermarkets, school and hospital.

Savines le Lac is just 10 Kms away from Reallon ski resort and 15 kms from Les Orres, both lovely family ski stations that have views over the lake in winter.
