Fabulous and carefully renovated Renaissance Chateau, nestled in the heart of the Gers countryside, set in 5 hectares of land with additional 3 bedroom stone cottage plus pool, surrounded by stunning scenery.
The stone chateau comes with 4 bedrooms with 2 medieval tower rooms, living and dining rooms with large decorative open fireplaces and ornate stonework.
Parts of this impressive Chateau date back to the Medieval times and was most predominantly used by the monks that were part of the nearby Cistercian Abbey de Planselve. With high ceilings and large windows to illuminate even on the gloomiest day, the property is a glowing representation of it's impressive past. Made from the white stone, typical of this region, it has been carefully and lovingly restored.
The Chateau was built in the typical white stone of the region, and was totally restored in 2007- 2008, with most of the original features salvaged or rebuilt.
On the downstairs level the current main entrance opens into an impressive hallway. Original antique terracotta floors on the ground floor. To the right a dining room, which has a large monumental stone open fireplace. There are steps leading down to the fully modernised kitchen and utility rooms, Miele and Bosch appliances, including two dishwashers.
A doorway opens out onto the terrace, a beautiful setting for outside dining as it faces west. To the left, a grand drawing room with renaissance stone archways and another open monumental fireplace. The large windows, high ceilings and a historic renaissance doorway are crowned by sandstone carvings that symbolise the monastery dependance. At one end of the room is a enfilade into the library with custom built bookshelves and a views across the gardens.
At the end of the hallway, there is large cloakroom with wc. Stone steps lead down to the kitchen, pantry and utility room, and there is also access to the terrace.
The main ornate staircase from the hall leads to the upstairs rooms although half way up there is a television room. The staircase opens onto an impressive long gallery, an ideal spot for displaying art with wall space, and beautiful natural light.
The master bedroom is off the gallery, it has traditional wooden herringbone parquet, with large windows allowing the light to flood in, and one of the two impressive medieval towers offers the option as a reading room or dressing room, with views over the parkland. The ceilings of these towers are original stone cross-vaulted and contain stone sculptures probably dating from the 13th century. The en-suite bathroom is accessed through antique doors and is beautifully tiled complete with bath, shower and heated towel rail.
Bedroom 2- is a large and spacious room, with the second of the towers and with a similar styled stone vaulted ceiling. It also has an en-suite bathroom.
Bedroom 3- with en-suite bathroom.
Bedroom 4. - is also a generous size. Finally a large dressing room with mirrored wardrobes is lit up by a velux window All the bathrooms have heated towels rails.
A 3 bedroomed farmhouse, has the scope to become a large guest house with an overall size of 140m2. The main entrance opens into a small hallway with a wc, and then leads to a dining room with open fireplace. The sitting room is bright and airy and has French doors to the terrace. There is a staircase to the upper level which opens onto a mezzanine area- ideal for an office or play room. All of the bedrooms look over the pool and with southerly views over the countryside. The bathroom is also on the upper level.
The salt water pool is a magnificent 17.5m x 5m and surrounded by a walled terrace and pretty roses bloom along the farmhouse walls. To the rear of the farmhouse, are stables, a garage and wood store.
