Relax on the private terrace of your luxury penthouse with panoramic views of the blue Mediterranean Sea and enjoy a chilled glass of champagne before a delicious al fresco dinner with friends; enjoy a leisurely swim on your private beach before climbing the steps carved into the rock face to reach your stunning villa perched on the cliff top overlooking the sea; while away a lazy afternoon sunbathing on the roof terrace of your whitewashed stone house overlooking the harbour of a small fishing village and watch the sun slowly set on a sparkling blue sea. Whether a modern luxury apartment on the chic French Riviera, a secluded villa on the rocky coast of Spain or a traditional stone house on one of the Greek Islands, there is a huge range of sea view properties for sale throughout Europe.
The chic French Riviera is the hotspot for the international jet set and property prices reflect this. For example a three bedroom apartment in Cannes with sea view would cost around 945,000 EUR and a one bedroom apartment Villefranche-sur-Mer with panoramic sea view and direct access to the sea with possible private mooring is on the market at €1,29m. Further along the coast at Juan les Pins near Antibes, a three bedroom penthouse with infinity swimming pool and sea view would be 1.75m EUR. Larger and more secluded villas and houses are also available along the French Riviera with prices starting at over 6m EUR. The Iberian peninsula also has a good range of sea view properties.
A six bedroom modern villa on the Silver Coast in Portugal with private beach and breath-taking views over Sao Martinho Bay, which is the only naturally occurring shell shaped bay in Europe would cost around 2.5m EUR or a luxurious five bedroom contemporary apartment in Praia da Luz in the Western Algarve with fabulous views over the ocean and cliffs has a price tag of 3.8m EUR.
In Spain you are almost spoilt for choice although the golden rule remains – the further away from the sea then the lower the price! For frontline sea view properties, prices start at around 170,000 EUR for a two bedroom apartment on the Costa Blanca rising to around 600,000 - 800,000 EUR for detached villas with direct access to the beach. At the top end of the market in Marbella and Malaga beach front villas and penthouses start at around 2m EUR rising to over 10m EUR for the very prestigious and luxurious properties.
Italy is also a good choice if you are looking for sea view properties. Sicily in particular has a number of well-priced properties on the market; for example a wonderful two bedroom penthouse apartment with panoramic sea views would cost in the region of 690,000 EUR or how about a three bedroom villa with direct access to the sea and surrounded by a mature garden for 400,000 EUR.
Elsewhere around the Mediterranean Cyprus has a range of luxurious sea view properties including a stylish four bedroom modern villa with panoramic views of the sea and surrounding countryside for 1.3m EUR or a four bedroom villa within walking distance to the sea and fabulous sea view for 2.1m EUR. Greece also has a good number of sea view properties in wonderful locations throughout the islands. For example a secluded contemporary four bedroom villa on the island of Mykonos complete with infinity pool with fabulous views of the Aegean Sea is on the market for 2.5m EUR or a four bedroom luxury villa built on the hillside on Kythira Island and overlooking the Straits of Maleas has a price tag of 1.35m EUR.
Further afield, the exotic Caribbean beckons. In Barbados sea view properties include a fabulous beach front penthouse with private plunge pool and panoramic sun terrace for 2,5m USD or for something a little less expensive there is a good range of two and three bedroom apartments with sea view and communal swimming pool starting at around 400,000 USD.
Sea view properties hold their value extremely well regardless of downturns in the economy or the wider marketplace and also offer perennially strong holiday rental prospects. There are sea view properties for sale in some of the most beautiful coastlines of the Europe and the Caribbean and for the wise investor an opportunity to make an exceptionally good investment.
