Properties with Mooring

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast of fresh coffee and still-warm croissants before wandering down the garden to your private wooden jetty to cast off and have a relaxing morning fishing and pottering around on the river in your sail boat; spend a glorious day sailing around the rugged Mediterranean coast, dropping anchor in hidden bays to swim and have lunch and then motor back home to your private mooring and a chilled glass of champagne; spend a relaxing afternoon sunbathing with occasional refreshing dips into your infinity pool before enjoying a convivial al fresco dinner with family and friends whilst watching the sun set behind the snow-capped mountains of Lake Como. Located in some of the most tranquil and beautiful areas in Europe with accommodation ranging from renovated stone farmhouses and luxury turn of the century villas to modern apartments, properties with moorings are proving to be increasingly popular and provide an ideal investment opportunity for both residential and holiday rental.

In the South of France the French Riviera is the natural destination to head for a good range of properties with moorings. A three bedroom apartment in Port Grimaud near St Tropez with an 18m private mooring on the river Giscle would cost around €430.000. At the other end of the price range are three or four bedroom houses or villas set in sumptuous gardens all with 18m or 24m private moorings with prices starting at around 2.5m EUR and going up to over €4m. Elsewhere in France, a fabulous renovated three bedroom stone house on the edge of the village of Lot in the Midi-Pyrenees with superb views over the river and direct access down to your own private mooring would cost 220,000 EUR. Or how about a luxury waterside two bedroom villa with wonderful views of the royal marina at Aigues-Mortes in Languedoc-Roussillon complete with sun balcony, private garden and terrace down to the water and your own private mooring – yours for 350,000 EUR. For something slightly different a recently renovated former 19th century tannery now provides a comfortable three bedroom house on the shores of the River Rance on the Port of Dinan in Brittany with a mature gated garden, private parking and private mooring for just over 400,000 EUR.

In Spain on the Costa Brava there are a number of luxury properties with moorings in Empuriabrava with prices starting at around 2.9m EUR for a five bedroom villa with a 32m private mooring. For something slightly cheaper then head to Port Saplaya in Valencia where a new development of terraced town houses each with its own private moorings and lovely views of the harbour are on the market for 530,000 EUR. The resort of La Manga also has properties with mooring available – a five bedroom waterfront villa with direct access to your own private mooring would cost in the region of 700,000 EUR.

In northern Italy there are a number of properties with moorings around the Great Lakes with prices depending on the location and size of the property. On the shores of Lake Lugano a five bedroom villa set in its own private gardens with stunning views of the lakes and distant mountains and direct access to a private beach and mooring would cost around 1.9m EUR or a four bedroom villa in the pretty village of Nesso on Lake Como with private jetty and mooring would be around 460,000 EUR. At the other end of the price range would be an elegant and stylish four bedroom lakeside villa on Lake Como with a panoramic terrace offering fabulous views of the lake and surrounding mountains with a private dock capable of mooring 3-4 boats for 5.9m EUR.

Elsewhere in Europe, both Greece and Cyprus have a small number of properties with moorings available. In Greece for example a four bedroom villa with swimming pool and a path winding down to a private beach and mooring would cost in the region of 4m EUR. In Cyprus, a new and exclusive waterfront development in Limassol has a range of two to four bedroom luxury villas with direct access to the water and all with private mooring with prices starting at 2.1m EUR for a two bedroom villa and rising to over €6m for one with four bedrooms.

Further afield the Caribbean has a good range of properties with moorings. A stunning two bedroom waterfront villa in Jolly Harbour in Antigua just minutes away from the beach with a waterside sun deck and a 15m private mooring is on the market for 950,000 USD or how about a three bedroom luxury villa in a private residence near the golf course and beach and with a 15m private mooring in Rodney Bay, St Lucia for 1.2m USD.

Properties with moorings can be found in some of the most beautiful parts of Europe and the Caribbean. Whether a simple cottage on the shores of a tranquil river, a modern town house overlooking a busy harbour or a luxury villa on the edge of one of Italy’s great lakes, properties with moorings are becoming increasingly popular as an investment both as a residence and also as holiday rental accommodation, providing boat and sailing enthusiasts with a golden opportunity to indulge their passion for the sea.
